Week 4-- Bookmarking

Hello everyone,

To start off this blog post I will be talking about a website found on my feedly account. Since I am very interested in fitness and eating right, every week I am going to try and post one website from my feedly account that has to do with exercise or eating healthy for those of you out there who are interested in that topic. This week’s feedly post is called “What to do When you Hate Exercise”, by Carly Rowena. Let’s face it, not everyone is interested in exercise because sometimes it’s not as fun as it looks. With this page, you can find out what to do when you don’t like to work out and how to start enjoying it!

Bookmarking is very important when you revisit the same websites over and over again. This week’s bookmarking tool helped me list and organize many different websites that I use constantly so that I have them all on one page and I don’t have to worry about searching them up when I log onto my computer. It is a very simple and easy way to keep these websites in the same place so you do not have to spend time searching them. It’s not to get confused with the idea of bookmarking and using feedly, (the web tool used last week). Feedly is a tool that holds many websites that are constantly being updated and therefore give you new and interesting stories to read daily. On the other hand, bookmarking is just websites that you revisit that hold the same information and do not update regularly.
The tool we used to help bookmark websites is Diigo. Diigo allows you to gather and revisit websites that you have saved on any computer, IPad, or phone. You can highlight information, screenshot information, and even use sticky notes to help organize the way you read and make notes on information. This tool will be useful in my educational activities because if I have research on any topic and I did not finish reading it, I can go back to it (almost like reading a textbook). I can also highlight the information that I find important and it will save that for the next time that I go back to read that same article.

Bookmarking tools would fit under the category of organizing content in my personal learning environment as it is a way of organizing the different websites that I use. I definitely would add this into my personal learning environment for the reason that I am going to be using it throughout the rest of my school years because it is going to help me keep on track with the different websites that I find significant.

Overall, through participating in these weekly sessions, I am learning not only about different web tools to use, but through using these web tools I am becoming more literate in the digital world. Since I am writing blogs weekly on how I use these tools, it is making me more adapted to the digital world.

Thanks for reading !
