A little about Me

Hi there,

My name is Julia Monaco and I am currently in third year of the Kinesiology (BA) program at Brock University. My athletic nature brought me to this choice of study and is the reason as to why I want to pursue a career in the health care field. It's a dream of mine to one day own my own clinic in Osteopathic Medicine so I can heal people a more natural way without the use of drugs and pharmaceuticals.

There are many things to know about me, such as my love to play sports. I have been on many teams throughout my elementary and high school years and even continuing onto university. Being on a team has taught me many skills like leadership, commitment, being able to work with others, as well as being independent at the same time. I was lucky to have been a part of a co-ed flag football team for about 3 years, and was able to travel to compete against other teams around the world. We traveled to P.E.I and Florida to compete for the National title and got first place for one and second place for the other, as well as Ottawa to compete for the title in Ontario, and got first place for that. Sports were always one of the things that I was genuinely good at and that is why I love to participate in anything that involves being active.

As for this next trait of mine, some people who know me call it Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), but I like to call it being properly organized. Sure I have my own way of doing it, and it has to be MY way but its just to ensure that everything is set to the way I like it (which is the most important thing anyway, right?). Also I LOVE to bake. Well actually I love the idea of baking, since everything I seem to make, burns or just doesn't taste good because I either put in the wrong ingredients or too much of certain ingredients (shout out to my best friend Breanna... she knows what I mean).

One thing that I hold true to my heart is my family. I am very family oriented and love to be around my cousins (who are more like sisters) and grandparents. As a girl with an Italian background, I see my extended family quite often. Now it is important to note that at these occasions (that occur once a week) you must eat the food Nona makes or else you feel you have dishonored her. Ask my boyfriend. The question, "Would you like some more food?" is not necessarily a question in my family, its more like, "HAVE some more food". No matter how crazy things get, I love them all deeply.

Overall, this blog is to document my learning, discoveries, and experimentation processes throughout the online course, ADED 1P32. From this course, I hope to inquire new understandings of the technological world through cyberspace and to become more knowledgeable about different web tools and how to use them.

Happy blogging!
