As sad as it is to say, this is the last week of
ADED 1P32, and I have completed so many things that have made me more
technologically knowledgeable and more of a digital citizen. We were told to
google ourselves as a final task. When I did this, I found my Facebook,
twitter, and blog posts! I thought this was so cool as this is my digital
footprint. The only major changes since the beginning of the course are my blog
posts as I already had twitter and Facebook. I like that you can see my blog
posts because they are everything that I have learned over the time of this course and I hope that they are useful to others who are either taking this course
or just looking for additional information. A digital footprint is information
on the web specifically about you and throughout this course, I have learned so
much about building my positive digital footprint through different tools such
as Pinterest and twitter. With Pinterest I know to post positive pictures or create
boards based on my accomplishments and particular interests. With twitter I can
use it to promote myself in my future career, or use it to follow other
people in the same field as me to educate me more. I think that it is critical
to have a positive digital footprint as that just helps with the idea of being
a digital citizen. If you have a positive digital footprint, then you most
likely follow the digital rights and responsibilities which lead you to become
an appropriate digital citizen.

I have learned that digital citizenship is about
the way that you use technology that really puts you in the category of being a
digital citizen or not. You should always be thinking about the digital rights
and responsibilities when using technology as they will ensure you of being a
proper digital citizen. Being polite and using proper etiquette when
collaborating and communicating with other online is very important.
As a digital citizen, I will hopefully continue
to create blog posts and spread the web about how important it is to use
technology appropriately. Before I joined this class, I had no idea about the
digital rights and responsibilities, but learned a few of them through my years
of school. For example, citing other people work. I did not know that this was
a digital responsibility, but that it was just something you had to do because
it is illegal to steal another person’s work. I think that the digital rights
and responsibilities should be more enforced, especially now that technology is
so popular in today’s society. Children and even adults should know all of the
rights and responsibilities before using the internet. There are many websites
that talk about the appropriate use of the internet that are great reads. I
found a great website that is all about appropriate use of technology. It is
called, Classroom
tips: Appropriate use of Modern technology. I suggest you look at it because
it is very interesting! As a digital citizen, I can only post things online
through blog posts, twitter, and Facebook to enforce how important it is to use
technology suitably.
Thanks for reading my final blog post! I really
enjoyed this course and getting to share all of my knowledge with everyone!
