Week 9-- VoiceThread and PollDaddy

Hello Bloggers!

I cannot believe it is week 9 already! Time is going by way to fast but we are learning so many tools that have made me more knowledgeable about technology and becoming a digital citizen! This week we looked at VoiceThread and what it has to offer. As for most people, it is the first time that I have used VoiceThread, nor have I even heard about it before. After exploring the VoiceThread that we were told to look at, I was able to see how it works and what I can learn from it. VoiceThread allows you to collaborate with people around the world by sharing your comments through auditory (speaker), visual (video), or through text about the slideshows/videos being shown. It is cool how people can leave comments on your VoiceThread and you can collaborate back with them.

All educators are using this tool for things like presentations when they give their students a video and ask questions related to the video shown, with expectations for the students to comment back (Educause, 2009). It is a great tool to get students involved! It is an easy to use tool that allows interactions between many individuals about a specific topic (Educause, 2009). Click on the link below for more information about VoiceThread that will have you gain more interest and use this tool!

Another tool we looked at was PollDaddy. Once again I have never heard of this tool until now but it is a great thing to use for your blogs and social networks. It allows you to ask a question and poll specific answers to see what people reading your poll think the answer is. It is also another great tool for educators to use to get students involved.

Both of these tools are good to use for collaborative work because they allow you to be united with many other people within the technological world and to view their opinions on topics of interest.

If you read a page I have created from my blog named VoiceThread, you will notice all the reasons why I think that VoiceThread is a great tool for my Personal Learning Network. Since it is very multi-purposeful, it fits under many of the categories. I will not re-explain them all but if you want to ready what categories I think it fits under and why, please visit my page!

As for my feedly reader, I have found a great website that people interested in working out will LOVE. The Ultimate Bodyweight Move Your Core Craves is a great website that explains and provides pictures to what this move is. The best part is that there are no weights involved, all bodyweight, meaning it is a cheap and easy way to workout (which I especially love). I have tried it myself and I must say, it’s a great workout for the abs.

Anyway, I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on VoiceThread and if they think it is a great tool to use throughout there education! Let me know what you think!

Until next week!

  1. Hi Julia,

The link you provided to the voice thread will not open for me. Can you please repost it to your blog? I look forward to seeing it.

  2. Hi Sheila,

I have just posted it to my blog now, I thought that it was weird you could not see it as one of my pages.

    Hope it's not too late,
